Cafe Ninis

Garosugil is one of the most stylish and trendy areas as well as one of the hottest tourist areas in Seoul. There is a plethora of lovely restaurants and shops throughout the nooks and crannies of this place – and my friends and I visited one of them not so long ago. Amazing atmosphere, good food, yes please. Stop by Cafe Ninis for a sweet Panini.

This shop was a quiet little space with a cozy, wooden furniture and the sweet smell of honey perpetually lingering in the air. I also thought it was interesting that they sell glasses frames and jewelry in a well-designed corner of the cafe.

You order at the register, and silverware and water are also self-serve. I actually thought this was nice since my friends and I wanted to have a nice, private chat without waiters constantly interrupting us. Plus, the water they serve was beet-lemon infused water, which is a pretty nice (and healthy) touch.

The three of us ordered two dishes to share, and that was just the right amount of food for us.

The first dish was the Gorgonzola Panini (고르곤졸라 파니니). This warm Panini is actually a double cheese Panini, with gorgonzola and mozzarella cheese practically throwing a party in your mouth. The Panini is topped with cranberries and almond slivers, and the whole thing is drizzled with honey. Served with a side of salad and pickles, this Panini had the perfect cheesy and savory taste while satisfying my sweet tooth.

Next was also one of their most popular dishes – the Sugar Pumpkin Lasagna (단호박 라자냐). A combination of sugar pumpkin, cranberries, almonds, pumpkin seeds, raspberries, pineapple, and lots of mozzarella cheese is served in a hot skillet. Sugar pumpkin is good for curing a cold or getting rid of bloatiness, and is considered by many Koreans as a healthy yet delicious food. I found this dish sweet to the point where I could eat it for dessert, but I couldn’t keep my fork away from it until the whole thing was gone!

Word is that their Greek salad is also quite tasty – I would definitely come here again for a nice Panini and a sweet brunch/lunch experience!
