In a corner of Tianzifang, fellow foodie and blogger Jade (her blog here) and I had a taste of what you usually find in a place far away from the kitchen: The toilet. This bathroom-themed restaurant, with its shocking visuals and a counter-intuitive culinary concept, was a delicious (and completely sanitary) experience!
The entrance displays a bathtub and a showerhead as well as little toilet-themed accessories.
And of course the chairs were little toilet seats!
We ordered the spaghetti and smoked salmon fried rice, along with chocolate ice cream for dessert. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with the food, especially since these three dishes we shared turned out to be a total of 140 RMB; I think the place was taking too much credit for their special theme…which wasn’t even that evident in many of the dishes. The food still tasted very good though! I liked the flavor of the salmon in the rice.
The dessert was my favorite part of this foodventure. We ordered everything at once, so it came in the middle of our meal (I do think they could have had the common sense to bring it out a little bit later, but I guess the high customer traffic makes it hard for them to do that) Oh well, we were taking spoonfuls of chocolate ice cream in between our bites, and I liked it!Admired this beautifully appetizing dessert.
And then inhaled it. 🙂 I think More Than Toilet is definitely a place you can stop by to have a fun meal. Can’t say that the taste of the food was extraordinary, but the details and their little ideas to connect their dishes to their theme was impressive!
